Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism

 Grace_7.png

Through Baptism children begin to share the life of Christ  with others.   At  St.  Joseph Church we help  families prepare for the Sacrament of Baptism and are happy to answer questions and address concerns.

We look forward to supporting you as you fulfill your sacred duty to share the gift of our Catholic faith   with  your child !

  Godparents

Godparents must be Catholic, have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation and attend Mass regularly. These requirements are the universal law of the Church and are not determined by the individual parish. If the person you choose as godparent fulfills these requirements, they are asked to provide a certificate from their parish stating that they are eligible to be a godparent.

Scheduling your Child's Baptism

Please be attentive to the steps of preparation:

.     Call the parish office  [973.697.6100] and express your desire to have your child baptized.

.     Introduce yourself to Fr. Aleks, the pastor of St. Joseph Church,  if you do not already know him.

.     Attend the parish baptismal preparation class.    […unless you have been present at  this session within the last three years.]

.     Be open to the invitation to actively join the faith community of St. Joseph Church.
