Monuments: Concrete vaults are required for all interments. Urns are not required for cremations.
A foundation is required for all monuments. A foundation fee must be paid in full before erection of monument. At the election of the Church, foundations shall be constructed by St. Joseph's Cemetery Staff or third party contractors. Foundations are not guaranteed by either the Church or third party contractors. Foundations are not constructed during the winter months or when the staff or contractor determines that ground conditions might likely cause a foundation failure. It is recommended that foundations be constructed no sooner than six months after the interment.
Arrangements for the monuments are to be made directly with a monument provider.
Permitted monument sizes are as follows:
Single plot - 1 foot wide up to 2 feet long
Double plot - 1 foot wide up to 4 feet long
Triple plot - 1 foot wide up to 6 feet long
Flat markers – no longer than 24 inches wide by 12 inches long
Cremation section can accommodate only flat markers.
A sketch showing the dimensions of the proposed monument must be submitted in advance to the business office. The Church is not responsible for any loss related to the purchase of monuments that have not been pre-approved.
Stone statues may be permitted as part of a monument and require pre-approval. Foot markers are permitted but may not exceed the size of veteran's foot markers as provided by the government. Veteran's foot markers are permitted.
Funeral Masses and Interments: Arrangements for funeral Masses and interments are coordinated through the cemetery administrator upon notification by the family of the deceased or a funeral director. Business hours of operation for funeral arrangements are Monday and Wednesday 9 am - 3 pm and Tuesday and Thursday 10 am to 3 pm. The contact telephone number is 973-697-6100.
